When two counties are holding the same person
This is one of the most misunderstood situations in bail. A person gets stopped in Cherokee County, and the warrant that pops is from Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Forsyth, Pickens or Dawson. Or the reverse: a Cherokee County warrant surfaces while they are in custody somewhere else entirely.
Two things have to happen. The Cherokee County charge, if there is one, has to be bonded. And the holding county has to be dealt with — sometimes by a transfer, sometimes by a separate bond posted in that jurisdiction, sometimes by an extradition waiver, which Cherokee County Magistrate Court has authority to handle.
Do not post one bond and assume the person walks out. If there is a hold from another agency, they do not go anywhere until it clears. We check for holds before you spend money, every single time.

Approved out-of-county property bonds
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office accepts property located in another county if the documentation meets Cherokee’s criteria and is processed through the property’s local sheriff’s office first, then submitted to Cherokee County in a sealed envelope. It is slower than a surety bond, sometimes by days.
Extradition waivers
Cherokee County Magistrate Court’s published duties include hearing extradition waivers. Where an out-of-state warrant is involved, that process runs on its own timeline and no bond posted in Cherokee County changes it.
Holds are invisible until you ask
