When the person in trouble is a minor
Cherokee County Juvenile Court sits at 90 North Street, Canton, in the Frank C. Mills III Justice Center, open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The general court line is 678-493-6475 and the Clerk of Juvenile Court, Chesley Cantrell, is at 678-493-6560. Judge Jones (678-493-6250) and Judge Speights (678-493-6280) preside.
The court hears child dependency cases for children under 18, delinquency cases for children under 17, traffic violations by minors under 17, and CHINS — Children in Need of Services. It runs specialty programs including Juvenile Drug Treatment Court, Family Treatment Court, Juvenile Traffic Court and a Citizen Review Panel.
Juvenile matters do not work like adult bail. A minor is generally not held at the Adult Detention Center and is not bonded out in the ordinary sense. If your child has been detained, the person to call is a lawyer and the Juvenile Court clerk — not a bondsman.

We will say this plainly: if the person detained is a minor, a bail bondsman is usually not who you need. Call the Juvenile Court clerk and a lawyer.
The age line matters enormously
Georgia treats delinquency jurisdiction as ending at 17 for most purposes, and certain serious charges can put a juvenile into Superior Court. If a 17-year-old has been booked into the Adult Detention Center on Chattin Drive, that is an adult case with an adult bond, and we can help. If they are in juvenile custody, we cannot — and we will tell you that immediately rather than take your money.
Questions we get asked
Juvenile detention does not work through the adult bail bond system. Call the Clerk of Juvenile Court at 678-493-6560 and get a lawyer. If the young person was booked into the adult jail, that is different — call us.
